What kind of dish is this?

This is a Russian salad made with chopped meat and vegetables and mayonnaise.
It is sometimes called capital salad or Russian salad.

History

This is a salad developed by Lucien Olivier, the owner and chef of L’Hermitage in Moscow in the 1860s.
Due to the climate of Russia, it was difficult to eat fresh vegetables, so there was almost no salad to eat by dressing vegetables.
But changes came in the 1800s.
Around this time, French mayonnaise became known in many countries.
Also, the Russian aristocracy at this time was fond of French culture.
At that time, I think that the Hermitage opened and this salad was born for the aristocracy.
The dressing recipe hasn’t been revealed yet, but I think it was made with dressing like mayonnaise, and meat, vegetables.

Spread

A chef breaks into Olivier’s kitchen to steal dressing recipes.
He didn’t seem to get the recipe, but he could guess.
He made a salad with the recipe and provided it.
He also sold the recipe to the publisher.
This made it known to many countries as a Russian salad.
General recipes change with the times, and there are innumerable variations in modern times.

Thoughts

Since all the ingredients are diced, I was able to enjoy the pleasant texture.
Moreover, it is very tasty because it is seasoned with mayonnaise. And that’s not all.
And, because you chew well and eat, you can get a feeling of fullness.
I think this is a perfect dish.
